The second most important stupa in Kathmandu for Buddhists is the Swayambunath. Its name – Swayambhu – means “self made” or “self created”.
Losar, right after the Shivaratri was the day which didn´t go as planned. Why? Because people don´t celebrate it the way I thought they would, but at the end of the day it was still interesting 🙂

One of the reasons why I wanted to visit Nepal this time of a year was a Tibetan New Year (Losar) and Shivaratri. And none of those two days I spent as planned.
There´s one thing which you will notice on every corner. Sometimes not even on the corner, but on every step. What´s this? Street dogs.

Many people asked me already and probably will ask the same question in the future as well: Why did you start your trip around the world in Nepal? There are so many places on the way here you have missed. Well, it is true. I think I’ve decided myself for Nepal because of the Himalaya. It is funny though, because I never liked mountains so much – I’m more a seaside person. But still, this country has some kind of magnet. Maybe it was the mountains that brought me here. They are the highest ones in the world after all. That was probably enough for me to come here.
